TRC Participation Rules

Last updated: May 29, 2026

Operated by: Tokyo Run Club (a business of One Laplace Inc.)

These Rules govern the conditions for participation in run events organized by Tokyo Run Club (TRC). By joining a TRC run event, the participant is deemed to have agreed to these Rules.

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Rules govern participation in run events organized by Tokyo Run Club (hereinafter "TRC"), a business operated by the Company (One Laplace Inc.).

Matters concerning Run-Venue Pickup of rental items through Laplace closet (delivery and return of rental items at the run venue) are governed by Laplace closet's Terms of Service and its "Run-Venue Pickup Special Rules."

Article 2 (Deemed Consent)

1. These Rules are permanently posted on the TRC website and communicated to users via Laplace closet member registration, booking confirmation emails, day-before reminders, and on-site postings at run venues.

2. By registering as a member of Laplace closet, or by joining a TRC run event, the user is deemed to have agreed to these Rules.

3. Persons who cannot agree to these Rules may not participate in run events.

Article 3 (Eligibility)

Participation in run events is limited to persons whose health permits physical exercise. The following persons should refrain from participating:

  • Persons who are pregnant
  • Persons advised by a physician against exercise
  • Persons with cardiovascular, respiratory, or other conditions that pose a risk of exercise-induced symptoms
  • Other persons who cannot safely run on their own judgment

Article 4 (Participant Responsibilities)

1. Participants understand that participation in a run event involves certain physical risks (falls, collisions, sprains, fractures, heatstroke, acute cardiac events, etc.) and participate at their own risk.

2. Participants shall check their condition before participating and refrain from participating if unwell on the day.

3. Participants shall confirm that their own footwear and clothing are suitable for running.

4. Participants shall follow the instructions of operating staff and applicable traffic and other laws during the event.

Article 5 (TRC's Safety Care and Scope of Liability)

1. TRC shall take reasonable safety measures in operating run events, including course selection, cancellation decisions in adverse weather, and on-site cautions.

2. Except in cases of TRC's willful misconduct or gross negligence, and except where the Consumer Contract Act or other mandatory laws preclude such limitation, TRC shall not be liable for accidents, injuries, illness, or other damages sustained by the participant during a run event.

3. TRC may obtain event accident insurance or equivalent coverage for participants. Such coverage does not modify the scope of liability set forth in Paragraph 2.

Article 6 (Emergency Response)

1. If illness or an accident occurs during a run event, the participant shall promptly notify TRC's operating staff.

2. TRC will, as needed, provide basic first aid and call emergency services but does not provide medical treatment. Medical and transport costs are borne by the participant's insurance or by the participant.

Article 7 (Cancellation or Postponement)

1. TRC may cancel or postpone a run event due to adverse weather, disasters, epidemics, venue unavailability, or other unavoidable reasons.

2. Notice of cancellation or postponement will be given via the TRC website, email, or other appropriate means.

3. Where cancellation prevents Run-Venue Pickup (collection of Laplace closet rental items at the run venue), refund of the rental fee is governed by Article 5.3 of Laplace closet's Run-Venue Pickup Special Rules.

Article 8 (Photography and Likeness)

1. TRC may photograph or record run events for record-keeping, promotion, community operation, and other legitimate business purposes.

2. Participants acknowledge that they may appear in such recordings and that recordings may be used by TRC and related businesses (including Laplace closet) for promotional purposes.

3. Participants who do not wish their image to be used may notify TRC's operator on the day.

Article 9 (Personal Information)

Personal information collected in connection with participation under these Rules is handled in accordance with One Laplace Inc.'s Privacy Policy.

Article 10 (Prohibited Conduct)

Participants shall not engage in any of the following conduct:

  • Failing to follow operating staff instructions
  • Engaging in conduct that endangers other participants
  • Violating traffic laws or public order
  • Participating while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Conducting unauthorized sales, solicitation, or advertising
  • Other conduct deemed inappropriate by TRC
